NETGEAR LIBERATES YOU FROM CARRIER SERVICE CONTRACTS WITH WORLD’S FIRST UNLOCKED 4G LTE MOBILE HOTSPOT WITH SIMULTANEOUS DUAL BAND WIFI

Debuting at IFA Berlin, the NETGEAR AirCard 785 4G LTE mobile hotspot supports multiple languages, displays data usage, and enables dual-band WiFi shareable simultaneously with up to 15 WiFi-enabled devices

BERLIN — September 5, 2014 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR) (www.netgear.com), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today announced the world’s first “unlocked” 4G LTE mobile hotspot with simultaneous dual-band WiFi coverage for greater range and performance. You can see the NETGEAR AirCard® 785 4G LTE mobile hotspot (AC785-100EUS) ( www.netgear.com/AC785) along with other NETGEAR solutions for the Connected Home at the IFA trade show for consumer electronics in Berlin, running September 5 through September 10. NETGEAR will be located in Hall 17, Booth 106 of the Messe Berlin exhibition center.

The AirCard 785 mobile hotspot with 4G LTE is ideal for parents, students, travelers, renters, telecommuters, small business entrepreneurs, temporary work sites, and seasonal and mobile homes where access to fixed broadband infrastructure may be limited. With the AirCard 785, up to 15 laptops, tablets, smartphones, digital cameras, gaming consoles, or other WiFi-enabled devices can easily and securely connect on-the-go to the built-in 802.11b/g/n wireless access point and share a single mobile broadband connection.

The AirCard 785 can even act as your primary Internet source at home, although you’ll want to dock it in the optional new 4G LTE Boosting Cradle with Ethernet (DC113A) (www.netgear.com/DC113A) to be able to support devices that aren’t WiFi-enabled. You can extend the functionality of the AirCard 785 hotspot even further by connecting it via the cradle to a high performance WiFi router. When docked in the cradle, your AirCard 785 can serve as a 4G LTE modem that acts as an alternate Internet connection for a high performance WiFi router during peak usage hours, or as a failover connection for emergencies.

An unlocked device such as the NETGEAR AirCard 785 mobile hotspot is not automatically tied to a service plan from a particular wireless service provider. With the AirCard 785, you’re free to choose almost any service provider throughout Europe and parts of Asia and to change providers at will, without committing to a long-term service contract, although the device will support monthly service plans if you choose that option. (See NETGEAR website for a complete list of service providers supported.) You can simply buy the data plan that best fits your lifestyle, plug in your SIM card, and begin using your AirCard 785, in multiple languages. The convenient data usage monitoring feature means you see your data usage at a glance so you can more effectively manage your budget and pay for data only when you need it. The smart, powerful features of the AirCard 785 leverage simultaneous dual-band WiFi for greater range (2.4GHz) and performance (5GHz), while minimizing interference from nearby devices.

“We want you to have a variety of options for enjoying the best networking experience possible, regardless of which wireless service provider you use. As a result, we’re introducing the European retail market to a new, unlocked NETGEAR AirCard mobile hotspot with simultaneous dual-band WiFi to support an improved streaming experience and greater range,” said David Henry, vice president of product management and engineering for the NETGEAR Retail Business Unit.

He added, “You can choose the carrier and service plan that’s the most appropriate for your needs, and take full advantage of the ultimate features and convenience of the AirCard 785. You’ll be astonished by how quickly you can set up the AirCard 785 to share your 4G LTE connection with friends, family and co-workers.”

The clean design of the AirCard 785 means that at a glance, you’ll know everything important about your device and its connection. The 4.5 cm (1.77 inch) color LCD screen of the AirCard 785 displays real-time information for monitoring the connected WiFi devices, battery life, network name, data usage, and more, making this compact lightweight hotspot simple to navigate and easy to set up in minutes. There’s no software to install and most settings are pre-configured for Europe’s most common telecommunications networks. You can connect additional devices with the push of a button as well as easily set up one-time guest WiFi access to the network. You’re also able to easily block unwanted devices from your AirCard 785 network due to its secure WiFi encryption modes. You can conveniently manage the mobile hotspot in multiple languages through the handy NETGEAR AirCard App for iOS and Android™ smartphones and tablets and even your Kindle™.
